Tsetan Guest House Family
When we started out in 1995 as a small guesthouse, we were simply a traditional small Ladakhi family that had few extra rooms in their home, excited at the prospect of playing host to friends from different parts of the world. Tsetan Guest House is located in the upper part of Changspa.
Surrounded by green lash fields and mystic mountain of Himalaya, friendly Ladakhi family runs the Guest House. It provides 5 well-furnished double room with running hot and cold shower and 7 rooms with a common bath room and one single room with common bathroom. We serve fresh Ladakhi food on demand, prepared with organic vegetable from our small garden. Lush green lawns studded with multi-coloured flowers provide an excellent opportunity to relax and experience the beauty of life.
Our family is comprised of 4 members:
Mr. Tsering Thupstan. He is a retired army man from the local regiment Ladakh Scout. At present he is running the taxi for tourists during the summer season and also takes the full responsibility of the house as the head of the family.
Mrs. Tsering Chonzom. She is the house maker. And also takes full care in the management of the guesthouse and in preparation of the meals for the guets. She is a very cool and caring mother.
Mr. Thinlay Namgyal. He is the older son of the family. He runs a travel agency in Leh.
Mr. TsetanNamgyal. He is the youngest son of the family. He takes part in the management of the guest house with his mother.
We have a tradition of keeping mint tea in the flask on the table outside and hence the guests have jokingly named us endless mint tea family.
After two decades of serving guests from practically every country on the planet, we remain essentially the same traditional Ladakhi family who haven’t forgotten the culture and traditions of our land. We still follow the culture of hospitality and care.
While looking after our guests, we also attend to the daily responsibilities that any traditional Ladakhi household would have. If you want a taste of our tradition, feel free to sit with our family in the kitchen and enjoy a meal with us. Or, if you are so inclined, you can watch us water our fields during the summer season. Perhaps you could even try to participate in the activities of the family.
At the end of the tiring day, you can come and have a cup of tea with us in the sitting room. Mix with our family or simply sit back and relax in the atmosphere of a ladakhi family. Spend some quiet hour of contemplation in our family chapel, or just watch some local TV.
At Tsetan Guest House, we do provide the guests with a room to stay in, but at the same time, we feel extremely delighted to share a part of our life with our guests. Come, be a part of our family!!
